Commis Chef - Basildon, Essex

With creativity and foodie flair, you will be preparing fresh salads and ‘Deli’ type foods and you will be working in one of our new contracts within a team of seven. You will be creating seasonal, nutritious, delicious food and inspired to contribute with innovative ideas for all aspects of food service.

You will be part of a team that will be providing breakfast and lunches for approximately 600 people. As the salad chef, you will have high standards of hygiene, compliance, food safety.

The ideal applicant would need to be comfortable with liaising with guests whether helping guests with enquiry or stepping in as a cashier if required in order to provide a seamless customer experience. We will provide chef development and training programmes. You must be able to provide our guests with a first-class customer experience from the moment they step into our premises to the moment they leave.​

As well as having excellent presentation and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food and service and possess bags of enthusiasm.

You will:

  • Have excellent knowledge of current food trends and an eye for detail

  • Be innovative and creative with a desire to succeed

  • Must have fine dining experience and excellent culinary skills

  • Be a proven and hands-on Commis Chef & willing to support other sections when required

  • Work well under pressure with a calm, mature and professional approach

  • Be IT literate with basic tasks

  • Possess an organised and structure approach to all aspects of the business

  • Manage site administration and bookwork

 

Location: Basildon, SS14 3WF : reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Job Type: Permanent, Part time

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 7am - 1.30pm, 30 hours a week as required with ½ hour unpaid break.

Salary: £16,380 per annum.

Holidays: 20 days holiday per annum plus Bank/Public Holidays.
