1.

Fairtrade

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers.

It’s about supporting the development of thriving farming and worker communities that have more control over their futures and protecting the environment in which they live and work.

2.

Rain Forest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance is a non-governmental organization working to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour. We source many Rainforest Alliance accredited beverages, such as Naked Juice, Innocent drinks, Lipton drinks and our new Grumpy Mule Coffee also has the Rainforest Alliance stamp.

3.

RSPCA Assured

RSPCA Assured, previously Freedom Food is the RSPCA’s ethical food label dedicated to farm animal welfare. Their vision is for all farm animals to have a good life and be treated with compassion and respect.

4.

Red Tractor Certified

Red Tractor is the minimum standard for all Talkington Bates ingredients. The Red Tractor logo confirms that independent assessors have checked food or drink meets the comprehensive standards, from farms to fork. These standards cover the following:

5.

Traceability

The flag in the Red Tractor logo tells you where the food has been farmed, processed and packed. To follow this traceability trail, all users have to keep comprehensive records of their livestock and crops.

6.

Animal Welfare

It is important that farmers protect the health and welfare of animals. The standards make sure that farmers are competent to look after animals, understand their needs and that the animal’s health and welfare is regularly checked.

7.

Environmental Protection

Farmers under the Red Tractor scheme must use responsible farming methods to minimise pollution. This means making sure that pesticide and fertilisers are stored safely and are applied correctly to the crop.
